Bahri’s CEO meets HRH Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud at the high-level gathering in the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. – 16 March 2017: A senior-level Bahri delegation met with His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States, at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in the US capital. The delegation, which is currently on an official visit to the US, was headed by Bahri’s CEO Eng. Ibrahim Al-Omar and other senior executives from the company.
The meeting explored the Kingdom’s presence in the international community and the significant role Bahri is playing in strengthening the bilateral commercial ties between Saudi Arabia and the US, especially in light of the company’s regional operations from its office in Baltimore, Maryland, and the forthcoming opening of a second office in Houston, Texas.
Eng. Ibrahim Al-Omar, CEO of Bahri, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to HRH Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the United States, for the opportunity to hold the friendly meeting.
“Our successful meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States comes as part of Bahri’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the Saudi government, strengthening the Kingdom's position as a logistic hub and capitalizing on its unique geographical location to increase global logistics activity among Asia, Africa and Europe,” Al-Omar said. “Bahri is also playing an integral and leading role in realizing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and promoting its various pillars, especially ‘The Thriving Economy’ theme, which focuses on making the most of the potential of Saudi’s workforce. Bahri is sparing no efforts to support local economic development and remains dedicated to creating a distinctive logistics platform that contributes towards strengthening the Kingdom’s economic profile, regionally and internationally.”
HRH Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud spoke about the potential role that Bahri could play in planning a range of academic and scientific development programs for Saudi students in the US, aimed at training Saudi youth, refining their skills and developing their expertise in the maritime sector for economic and community development.
At the end of the meeting, HRH Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud congratulated Bahri’s delegation on recently accepting the delivery of ‘AMJAD’, the company's 37th Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), which makes Bahri the largest owner and operator of VLCCs in the world.
‘AMJAD’ joins Bahri’s fleet as part of a deal the company signed with South Korean company Hyundai Heavy Industries, to build 10 VLCCs, fueling Bahri’s ambitious growth and expansion plans.
A number of Bahri’s vessels are qualified for a QUALSHIP 21 designation, a highly prestigious recognition given only to vessels that meet the most stringent quality and safety standards. The company’s first vessel docked in the United States in 1982 in Houston.
Presently, the company owns 84 vessels, including 37 VLCCs, 36 chemical/product tankers, 6 multipurpose vessels, and 5 dry-bulk carriers. Bahri has successfully diversified its portfolio of services to become one of the largest specialized companies, providing comprehensive and integrated transportation and logistics services in the world.
