29 JUL 2017

LONDON – 29 July 2017: In line with its constant support to Saudi government initiatives and the role it is playing in accelerating the international maritime trade growth, senior representatives from Bahri joined other members of a KSA delegation recently in participating in board meetings of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which took place at the agency’s headquarters in London, UK. The meetings come as part of the Kingdom’s preparations to submit its candidacy for the membership of the IMO Council under Category (C).

Senior Bahri officials who participated in the discussions included Wael Al-Sarhan, Senior Vice President – Marketing, and Abdulaziz Sabri, Vice President, Bahri Ship Management.

As part of its efforts to showcase the progress made by Saudi Arabia in improving maritime safety and infrastructure and present the Kingdom’s case for election to the Council – which is the apex body responsible for supervising the work of the Organization – Bahri hosted a breakfast meeting for IMO members yesterday during which the attendees reviewed the efforts initiated by the various stakeholders.

“Bahri has a long tradition of supporting Saudi government initiatives and representing the nation at important regional and international meetings and conferences to advance the reputation of the Kingdom’s shipping industry and promote its strategic interests,” said Wael Al-Sarhan, Senior Vice President – Marketing, Bahri. “As a pivotal player in the global transportation and logistics sector, Bahri is keen to strengthen the Kingdom’s position and influence in the international maritime order. We are honored to support the Kingdom’s nomination to the IMO Executive Council and are committed to leveraging our goodwill and our network of contacts to ensure that KSA wins a seat on the Council for the next two years and the strategic role it deserves on the global maritime stage.”

Al-Sarhan added, “Saudi Arabia is home to one of the world’s most vibrant transportation and logistics industries, and we at Bahri are dedicated to supporting the logistics goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030 – both through our business operations and by utilizing our good offices – thus, contributing toward the overall economic development of the nation and the wellbeing of its people.”
